JERUSALÉN, 19/08/2024.- El Ejército de Israel aseguró este lunes que sus tropas terrestres destruyeron en el sur de la Franja de Gaza un túnel de 1,5 kilómetros de largo que era utilizado por el grupo islamista Hamás, mientras la comunidad internacional se esfuerza por alcanzar un acuerdo de cese el fuego. "Con orientación de inteligencia, tropas del Batallón 603 y la Unidad Yahalom (de ingenieros de combate) localizaron y destruyeron una ruta de túnel subterráneo de aproximadamente un kilómetro y medio de largo", indica un comunicado castrense. El Ejército precisó a EFE que el túnel se hallaba en la región de Jan Yunis, una importante zona del sur del enclave donde incursionaron nuevamente las tropas terrestres israelíes hace dos semanas y que históricamente ha sido bastión de milicias palestinas.
